Servidor Microsoft BackOffice

Microsoft BackOffice Server era un paquete de software informático descontinuado que incluía Windows NT Server y otros productos de servidor de Microsoft que se ejecutaban en NT Server. Se comercializó durante la década de 1990 y principios de la de 2000 para su uso en sucursales y para que las pequeñas empresas gestionaran sus operaciones administrativas . La edición para pequeñas empresas de BackOffice Server se lanzó para las versiones 4.0 y 4.5. En el año 2000, se separó de la marca "BackOffice" y se convirtió en una variante de Windows Server denominada Windows Small Business Server . BackOffice Server se descontinuó el 1 de octubre de 2001.

Además de Windows NT Server, las versiones de la suite BackOffice Server también incluían Microsoft SQL Server , Microsoft SNA Server , Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS), Microsoft Mail Server o Microsoft Exchange Server , Microsoft Proxy Server o Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server , e Internet Information Services (IIS). Las ediciones para pequeñas empresas no incluían SNA Server ni SMS.

• Finales de 1995: BackOffice 1.5 incluye Windows NT Server 3.51 , Microsoft SQL Server 6.0, Microsoft SNA Server 2.11, Microsoft SMS 1.1 y Microsoft Mail Server 3.5.
• 25 de abril de 1996 — BackOffice 2.0 : incluye Windows NT Server 3.51, Microsoft Internet Information Services 1.0, Microsoft SQL Server 6.0 o 6.5, Microsoft SNA Server 2.11, Microsoft SMS 1.1 y Microsoft Exchange Server 4.0.
• Diciembre de 1996 — BackOffice 2.5 : incluye Windows NT Server 4.0 , Internet Information Services 2.0, Microsoft SQL Server 6.5, Microsoft SNA Server 3.0, Microsoft SMS 1.2, Microsoft Exchange Server 4.0, Microsoft Proxy Server 1.0, Microsoft Index Server 1.1, Internet Explorer 3.01 y FrontPage 1.1.
• 9 de diciembre de 1997 — BackOffice Server 4.0 ^{[ 1 ]} – incluye Windows NT Server 4.0 SP3, Internet Information Services 3.0, Microsoft SQL Server 6.5, Microsoft SNA Server 4.0, Microsoft SMS 1.2, Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5, Microsoft Proxy Server 2.0, Microsoft Index Server 2.0, Microsoft Transaction Server 2.0, Microsoft Site Server 3.0, Microsoft FrontPage 98 y Visual InterDev 1.0.
• 12 de enero de 1999 — BackOffice Server 4.5 ^{[ 2 ] [ 3 ]} – incluye Windows NT Server 4.0 SP4, Internet Information Services 4.0, Microsoft SQL Server 7.0, Microsoft SNA Server 4.0 SP2, Microsoft SMS 2.0, Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5 SP2, Microsoft Proxy Server 2.0, Microsoft Index Server 2.0, Microsoft Transaction Server 2.0, Internet Explorer 5.0, Microsoft FrontPage 2000 y Microsoft Visual InterDev 6.0.
• 28 de febrero de 2001 — BackOffice Server 2000 ^{[ 4 ]} – incluye Windows 2000 Server , Microsoft SQL Server 2000, Microsoft SMS 2.0, Microsoft Exchange Server 2000, Microsoft ISA Server 2000 y Microsoft Host Integration Server 2000.

BackOffice Server 4.5, que incluía una licencia de servidor y cinco licencias de acceso de cliente (CAL), se comercializaba por 675 dólares estadounidenses. Requería un espacio mínimo de 2 GB en el disco duro, un procesador mínimo Pentium Pro de 200  MHz y una memoria RAM mínima de 128 MB.
